This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you take our SPARK compatibility quiz, attend our events, or interact with our website at beyondthesparks.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use our quiz or register for an event:

• Gender and age

• Phone number (for SMS match delivery)
• SPARK quiz responses and calculated compatibility type
• Dating intention / readiness score
• Open-ended responses (dealbreaker, smile prompt)
• SMS consent status and consent timestamp
• Device type, IP address, and browser information (collected automatically)
• Ticket purchase information — when you buy a ticket, your name, email, and payment details are collected and processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We receive confirmation of your purchase and limited billing details, but we never receive or store your full card number.

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• Delivering your match results via SMS or email after events
• Sending event announcements and updates you have opted into
• Facilitating compatibility matching between event attendees
• Processing ticket purchases, sending receipts, and issuing refunds
• Improving our quiz and matchmaking algorithm
• Responding to questions and customer service inquiries
• Complying with legal obligations

4. SMS Messaging Program

By providing your phone number and checking the SMS consent box on our quiz form, you agree to receive text messages from Beyond The Sparks. Below are the details of our SMS program:

We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Event operations: Your SPARK profile and compatibility type are shared with the event organizer (Beyond The Sparks staff) to facilitate matching at live events.
• Service providers: We use GoHighLevel (a CRM platform), Supabase (our database), Sanity (our content management system), and Vercel (our website host and logging provider) to run the site and to store and manage contact information. These subcontractors are bound by confidentiality obligations and may not use your data for independent marketing purposes.
• Payment processing: When you buy a ticket, your payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. Stripe collects and handles your card details directly under its own privacy policy; we receive only confirmation of the transaction and limited details such as your name, email, and the amount paid.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. Event participant data is retained for up to 2 years for matching and follow-up purposes. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at lee@beyondthesparks.com, or by deleting your account from your account settings.

When you delete your account we remove your profile, your messages, and your match connections, and we erase the personal details from your quiz result (your name, email, phone number, and date of birth), keeping only an anonymized compatibility result for aggregate statistics. We keep records of any purchases you made for as long as the law requires for tax, accounting, and dispute resolution, even after your account is deleted.

7. Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted database storage (Supabase) and secure HTTPS transmission. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you
• Download a copy of your data any time from your account settings
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your personal data
• Opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising in exchange for money. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an opt-out of analytics tracking, and you can decline non-essential cookies using the banner shown on your first visit. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

9. Children's Privacy

Our services are intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 years of age. If we become aware that a minor has submitted personal information, we will delete it promptly.

• Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site — which pages are viewed, how long you stay, and where you came from. This helps us improve our content and user experience. Google Analytics sets cookies on your browser to track this information.
• Email open and click tracking: Our marketing emails may include a small invisible image and links that route through our website, which let us see whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, tied to your email address. We use this to send fewer and more relevant emails. Opens are only an estimate, and you can prevent open tracking by keeping images blocked in your email app. Every marketing email also has a one-click unsubscribe. This tracking is not applied to account or receipt emails.
• Session Cookies:We use session cookies to store information about your quiz responses and form data while you're taking the SPARK quiz. These cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
